The purpose of these activities and workshops is to give parents ideas to try at home to encourage language and literacy. The activities use picture books that can be found at local libraries, bookstores and materialsparents might find around the house.
Each activity teaches at least one pre-reading skill that is essential to becoming a fluent reader. The activities are designed to use a child's whole body in learning and providing for all learning styles. The workshops are developmentally appropriate for children ages three to seven years, but can be used by the whole family in a family learning environment.
